My girlfriend and I were slightly apprehensive about the bike ride as we don’t bike often, but this tour was downhill and involved the occasional off road track which was very fun! We stopped off at a traditional Balinese home community where we made offerings and had a chance to interact with the locals. We stopped half way for bananas and crackers then began the last leg of the journey. When we reached the end, the driver took us all to a restaurant which was very nice! We had vegetarian mie goreng which id recommend. I also couldn’t recommend this tour enough, it was one of the highlights of staying in Ubud.

After we having our breakfast we than prepare to take off on our mountain bikes paddle down through the heartland of Bali (almost 95% downhill), travelling on non tourist, secret rural back roads and small village roads with little traffic. We ride through lush forested areas, plantations full of Balinese staples and cash crops, timeless small villages and lush rice paddy panoramas, get to experiencing typical Balinese daily life and enjoying the beautiful Balinese countryside to Ubud. Feel the friendliness of adorable Balinese children calling out ‘hellos’ and wanting ‘high fives’ on the way down.

Numerous stops on the way is made to visit a Balinese home/ family compound, (where you get to see locals live outside the tourist areas), a Balinese plantation (where you learn of the medicinal and culturally important uses of local plants, the coffee making process and see many of the spices grow you have used in cooking and tropical fruits you never see before. We will have time to sample many exotic tropical fruits, local herbal teas and coffees, including Civet Coffee (coffee for Luwak animal), the unusually produced and most expensive coffee in the world). We also stop off at a village temple and stunning rice paddy panoramas. We go for a short walk in the rice paddies to see villagers planting and harvesting rice (you can join in) and see traditional craftsmen at work en route.
